Hello. There have been several posts about air-bag lights, but I can't find any threads mentioning a connection between a dodgy battery and air-bag faults. I see the sticky thread at the top, but that does not relate to air-bag problems. Here's the thing, as brief as possible:
Alfa 156 SW, yr 2000. 5 air-bag faults. 2 different people have reset the light, but the errors come back immediately. I haven't got the list with me, but it is something like:
passenger side bag squib fault.
driver side bag squib.
Something about ECU low voltage.
air-bag ECU faulty.
Local garage reckons I have a wiring fault, and a specialist car electrician said he didn't want to touch it in case air-bags started going off.
Simple question: Do you reckon I should buy a new battery, and try resetting the light again before getting someone expensive to have a go at it ......No it answers itself. I am going to spend the dosh on a new battery, and a bit more money on a reset, unless anyone thinks it's a stupid idea.
Stupid or not? Is there any chance that I could cure the air-bag faults with a new battery? ...and if I paint it, will that stop the suspension squeak at the back ...
(The battery goes flat if the car is left unused for 2 weeks, but gut-feeling says this may be a wiring fault rather than the battery).
