Opting Out of Company Car

Hello Guys

Just popping in to say hello.

I am in the process of opting out of my company car scheme and taking the dosh. I will get 460 squids per month + fuel wich is 15 per mile.

If anyone has opted out and bought and alfa and has some advice for me I would most welcome it.

I have an Audi at the mo and was looking at getting a BMW 320 or 325 M sport until someone who has a 159 lusso 2.4d told me to get an Alfa

I like the lusso or the TI, although I have spoken to a dealer who said he would put on the 19" and body kit for 2k on a Lusso.

I did test drive the 1.9d and found it a bit sluggish. Maybe I would be better off with 2.4?

Clarkson has said nice things about the 159

£460 per month car allowance! thats more than my mortgage!

if i had £460 per month to play with i wouldnt get an alfa, i'd be driving a Maserati Quattroporte.

actually thats a lie, i'd be banking the £460 per month and still driving my 156.

Get the 2.4 - the newer 210 BHP engine is a gem and deals with the one or two issues that the 200bhp engine suffered from - it's more responsive and smoother.

Re: Opting Out of Company Car

Tricky decision, my wife opted out of a Mondeo TDCi Ghia for £506/month (about £380 after tax) You can easily get an Alfa on HP for that money but the mileage will probably be limited to 10k, besides we wanted to own the car.
We opted for a 2-year old BMW because a newish Alfa would haemorage too much money, the Bim has rock solid reliability and holds it's value well HOWEVER it's mundane.
Therefore I bought my 156 as a second car and something to put a BIG smile on my face.
Depends wether you choose your car with your heart or your head or your wife!
Go on - Get a 159!

My wife "opts out" and gets similar plus she gets a rate for business miles travelled. It pays for the GT and is so much better than the C Classe's LTSB try to get her to have
