Last night I became a true Alfa driver, and had my first mechanical failure.
Driving around as normal, I drop down into second to go over a round-about, and there was an almighty BANG.
Following this, I drop into netural, compress the clitch and roll to a stop! The clutch works, and the engine revs, but the gearstick is free in netural, but grates on selecting a gear.
At first I thought the gearbox was fooked, but feeling the gearstick and the noise it makes... Not to mention, the linkage being free inside the engine housing, and knocking on the steering column, best hope is it is the linkage, and the gearbox is undamaged.
Anyway, RAC turns up and confirms my thoughts, the linkage is defo screwed. So I got it home, and now I have to wait until Monday Morning, to call A&M to look at getting it fixed.
Thats my sob story, but was really wondering if this has occured with anyone elses pride and jory? I would also be interest in hearing from ppl what they think this will take to fix? 4hrs labor + parts?
Cheer me up guys.
