where should i mount cd changer?

i have just invested in a 10 disc sony cd changer to go with my sony head unit. however i dont know where the best place in the boot to mount it is.

hanging below the 3rd brake light or to one side?

whats the best way to do it? i thought i may need to make some kind of bracket/plate first?

any help/advice greatly appreciated

i have a 1998 156 v6 btw!!

thanks everyone

Re: where should i mount cd changer?

my ol 156 originally had the stacker hanging from under the parcel tray/brake light like you suggest. it was convenient until i wanted to try and fit 'tall' objects into the boot, when it would get in the way!

so it depends how you might use the boot.

alternatives are mounted on the floor, to one side, or up against the back of the rear seat. the CD changer may have settings for its 'suspension' (to cope with bumps) for different orientations of the unit: horizontal <> vertical.

yes, you will of course need some mounting brackets, and be able to secure it properly to the car. this might require an mdf wooden base (eg: 12mm mdf) fastened to the car, then screwing the changer to the base.

Re: where should i mount cd changer?

why not just Velcro it to the boot floor
for now and see how you get on with
it there?
