Can I fit the new style headlights to my Alfa 147?

My alfa was manufactured in 2001, my question is, can I fit the new style headlights in my car that come out on the brand new 2007/08 models...

if so do I need to convert anything or should it just slot straight in??

thanks..........

also do you know of anywhere i can purchase them.

Yes I believe they do, and you can get them from Fiat Parts and Alfa Romeo Parts from Shop4Parts

Looking at pictures of original & facelift 147's, there's no way you're going to get facelift headlights to fit without more or less rebuilding the front of the car - the front wings, bonnet & bumper are all different!

Nope....would invole a complete front end rebuild like Dave said.

What's wrong with the original retro look front anyway?

They're completely different. There's no way they'll fit, as others have said.

You need a complete new front with new bumper, fenders, hood, lights and so on. It will cost a lot of money and it will depreciate your 147 at the same time (= double loss of money) as most Alfisti love the original way better than the Nuova Alfa 147.

Also two different specs surely. Sit two side by side and look at them for real! Anyhow I would prefer mine wouldn't I
Of course mine looks way better than either of them!

NO! Don't ruin a nice pre-face lift!

All good points and that doesn't even start to consider the differences behind the scenes i.e. different wiring looms and routings, changes to the slam panel, different front end carrier (bonnet latch, bonnet release etc etc, changed position of indicators and foglamps. Basically a change of the whole front structure not just the body panels!

Other silly things have changed like the distance between the wash jets and the shape of the leaf scuttle covers at the base of the windscreen!

If the P2 look is so important I would suggest buying a P2. However, if your P1 looks like the one in the comparison picture may I suggest that simply getting rid of the steel wheels might help!

60% of the time it works everytime.

To be fair the photography is pretty poor in each image.

Re: Can I fit the new style headlights to my Alfa 147?

I'd say the photography of the older Alfa is better for a car...better angle and car 'pose'...

..just not the best car for the pic!

...plus is this a car forum or a photography one!?

Re: Can I fit the new style headlights to my Alfa 147?

Simply stating that the photograph on the left - the levels are way out where are the one on the right they are more balanced. Sorry obviously I am bringing my job home with me these days! Wasn't to do with angles or perspective just the colour balance. Besides its not fair as one is an 07 and unblemished the other looks like it needs a good polish!

Thanks, but I'm not taking the credit for the images, they are both from ebay. What they show though are the different lights and importantly the shape. I know it is possible to fit anything to anything, it's just the effort and cost. I actually like the newer model, it's on the same lines as my 159, but it is each to thier own.

Break out the garlic and wooden stakes, a dead thread rises...

I'm looking at the reverse option out of cussedness and parsimony. I've a facelift cross rail and slam panel laying about, and a pre facelift car that needs these replacing. It sure looks like a quartet of M6 rivnuts will see the headlights work. The top curve looks the same where the rubber seal clips over. The latching looks identical.

Definitely worth exploring some more.

The bonnet catch has a longer handle on the post-facelift compared to the pre-facelift.
I'm midway of doing the front facelift from the pre-facelift.
Bonnet, wings and bumper are the main differences.
Headlights are also different as the pre-facelift has the indicators in the bumper and not in the headlight itself.
Do you need any parts? Where are you?
