Re: Alfa 156 struggling for power
Thanks very much Pete. I meant thepump and not the belt, well spotted. The are chaging 5 hours labour, but luckily I managed to pick up a second hand pump for 50 quid. As far as the pulleys are concerned, the garage had a good look at these again and assued me that everything works fine other than the pump. I'll let you know whether this cures the problem, but this shouldn't relate to the lack of power in 5th gear and over 3000 revs in other gears should it? Thanks again.
With reference to the above, its difficult to say as 3000 rpm is plenty to overcome the extra drag of bearing wear but having said that its also the tallest gear so it could be argued that it would show itself clearer here? change the pump and i guess we'll know. If not it could be so many things, stick wastegate actuator (if its like a normal petrol turbo) more air leaks, ecu the list goes on and on. Even a well clogged fuel filter, i guess just tackle each problem one at at time. Hope all goes well, good luck mate.
