My first V6 had a problem with third it was crunching and then started to spring out in the end I was told new gear box £1500, so I got rid of the car as I didn't have the money.
I wish I had kept her because you can get a reconditioned gearbox and fit it yourself if you can. Reconditioned was £900 that was two years ago
The different engine sizes use slightly different boxes - different diff ratios....all 4-pot boxes will physically interchange, though - to get a six-speed will be pricey.....
