I don't think that it has been proved to be ok has it? Personally I would get a new one anyway, they go all too often and if it is proved not to be at fault then you have a spare for when it does give up. Just because the car runs with the MAF and doesn't throw up a fault, doesn't mean that it works properly. I have 2 MAFs in my cupboard that would do just that, but compared to my new one, are foooooked!
Also, before mine completely gave up, it ran terribly with the MAF disconnected, therefore disproving that it has to run better without the MAF for the MAF to be at fault. I found this out on Focus DIY's car park when my car had died. Cause - MAF!
Can you test the lambda sensor, or is it just a replace and hope job? How much does one cost?
