Handbrake Cable

Just got my 147 Selespeed back from the garage. I've had a new clutch kit fitted due to a shot clutch release bearing. (600 plus VAT.)

They've run a "health check" and found that the handbrake cables split and it's recommended for replacement. Just wondered how big a job this is... Or in other words, can my Dad do it on a Sunday afternoon to save me some cash and stop the never end cost that seems to come with this car?! And where would i get hold of one?
