I think what happens is that oil finds its way above the rubber flap under the cap. From there is doesn't flow down into the tank again, so as soon as there is any pressures releasing back into the tank (which it will do when the system is shutdown) the oil above the rubber gets blown down the tube.
I have a transparent tube linking the cap to the catch-tank and you can watch the small amounts of oil moving along it.
Overfilling isn't a danger with the Selespeed, underfilling soon becomes a problem.
With only 0.6L total in the system it doesn't take much for it to get too low if the level isn't checked.
