Have had a search for this problem on here and have found similar ones but nothing exactly the same and wonder if anyone here had any ideas or advice on what my problem could be.
I've got a 2003 147 2.0 TS Selespeed and I'm now having a problem with selecting gears. The paddles up and down work fine when the car is moving etc. so it's not them, it's the gear stick operation. If I am stationary and want to move off, sometimes it won't select any gear.
When it does, I can feel and hear the 'click' it makes to engage but when it won't, there's nothing. Yesterday I was stuck at an angle across my road trying to reverse in and it wouldn't select any gear!
Tried switching off the ignition and restarting but the problem remained. It was only after 5 minutes of trying, cursing, etc. that it went in. Once I was parked, it would select gears fine. Sometimes the problem happens when driving along too, if I change gears with the stick rather than the paddles, other times it's fine. Like another topic I read, it would seem that it happens more when the engine's warm, it's fine when cold...
Aarrrgggh! Any advice anyone?
Thanks so much for listening!
