HELP, do I really need a new ECU?!!
My 156 V6 2.4 is surging whilst idling and whilst driving this surging creates some jerking. (Its not good as the high revs will also cause the engine to overheat unnecessarily, I guess) My mechanic and two auto electricans have advised the engine managment software cannot be replaced so a new ECU is required.
I've read with interest threads detailing that connectors underneath the pedals, deposits on the throttle body, throttle case actuator and the battery voltage may have an effect. I'll check that out tomorrow.
Has anyone had the same problem and if so what was the fix. I'm rather nervous at NZD3600 for a new one from Italy. It really is a love hate realationship with these machines.
Many thanks, look forward to your advice
