215 tyres on 17" rims - tramlining??
Ok, so my new car has a mixture of tyres. 2x Falken XE512 on front, 2xPirelli P6000 on back. Wear rate seems about the same on all, which is to say around 4mm left.
Car is fine on flat surfaces. However, on more mixed country/back roads with undulations and less than always flat/even surfaces, the front wheels really tend to tramline badly. At times, it feels like the left front wheel is trying to pull you into the verge.
But all seems well on the nicer stuff. There is no pull in either direction, although the wheels do need balancing - there is a bad wobble over 70mph.
Tyre pressures all seem fine at 34/33 front/rear. Should i be studying my tyre patterns with a magnifying glass to see if one is indeed wearing unevenly, or does this sound like something other than tyres??
Also, whilst i acknowledge that neither berand of tyre is much cop, can anyone tell me which the softer compound is, and which set should be on the back/front for better grip/handling. The Falkens are currently on the front and seem to understeer prettty quickly.
Nice people drive Alfa's
