Re: are alfa romeos 147 a bad car 2 buy
I have had my 147 1.6TS 52 plate for 2.5 years now, It has done 94000K and it has been a pleasure, ok its cost me £400 quid for a cambelt change and just the general servicing year on year.
I expect this year to have to change my front discs and pads and will probably need a new front wishbone but compare this to my previous Focus 2.0 ESP which repeatedly let me down, clutch pipe kept detatching from clutch housing, rattles that drove me mad and tyre wear that I could never cure that cost me fortune in tyres. And you dont get laughed at by the Ford parts guy when he tells you you have to wait 2 days for a fanbelt, Honestly...
As mentioned earlier Alfas need looking after, you cant forget to check the oil and fluids, but I dont think now they are any different to Golfs Fords etc in the reliability stakes, and the reward you get in the looks and drivabilty dept are streets ahead.
My next Car will be an Alfa,I would not have said that for any of my previous brands I have owned.
Go for it!
