Re: Hesitation/Flat spot
RIghto - did a spot of surgery today. Changed the air filter, and at the same time did the V6 intake mod (what a swine of a job . . . . . . . . hands hanging in tatters). So In the last week have changed plugs, air filter and cleaned the MAF with carb cleaner. However haven't disco'd battery to reset ECU - silly me!!!
Today I also removed the induction piping and sprayed a colossal amount of carb cleaner into the throttle body to clean that too and run the car to get it well ingested into the system. Also put a decent injector cleaner into my remaining half tank of fuel. SO ends the efforts.
On running the car earlier, the 'flat spot' would appear to be still in evidence - particualry so around 2000 rpm when pootling along. I would say more of an gentle shudder than a jerking motion. I could still clean the throttle potentiometer, but my own suspicions are now turning to a lazy coil pack (above 2000 rpm all is fine). I suspect number 1 cylinder as the plug I took out there was very black and sooty compared to the others. Not being a mechanic (just a keen amateur . . . . . . . .but not the most able one though). I would like to ask - do my suspicions stack up as feasible or am I indeed talking utter pants.
PS - battery indicator was showing white today - may try a charge up to see if that helps.
PPS - When I removed the resonator box, a load of water came pi$hing out it. What sort of half-arsed piece of design was that ???? Not forgetting the weight of the thing too.................
