Issues with Traction control systems and ABS
I have had this problem a few times. It isn't a big deal to me as I have had far worse problems in the past with other cars but want to determine if it is something serious so I can get it sorted before the warranty finishes.
A few times now I have given my 147 GTA a bit of welly coming out of roundabouts and the ASR has cut it. The problem is though it then goes "AHHH, I don't like this, it is too hard to work out which wheels to brake to stop this understeer" and gives up. The result is as follows:
error displayed as battery charge low for about half a second
VCD and ABS failure is displayed
the dash cuts out briefly and comes back. the headlights also dim, my sat nav and stereo cut out and the car stops accelerating for a fraction of a second.
It is then totally fine, no drop in performance, no warning lights left on, it is fine. This is why I am not too worried. I think it is just a case of it got a bit overwhelmed.
However yesterday it happened, the dash cut out and the fuel guage went striaght to the bottom. Now this is a bit odd since it had a full tank. It righted itself over the next hour gradually moving back up to the correct level. Obviously this is not acceptable.
Can someone shed some light on the matter? It is a simple battery or is it something more serious like an abs sensor or even the ecu? It all happens very quickly and each time it happens it seems to be worse The first time I only got a battery warning, the second time the battery warning with a cut out, and now these problems with the traction control, asr warning and the petrol guage.
I am going to take it to the dealer but would like some information to give them a head start.
