Service cost for a 147

Hi all,

I saw the cost of the service when at my local dealer in Amersham (Bucks) and noticed the 6th Service cost was £792 - this seems very pricey compared with other services. The last service i had was when i bought the car and tghis was the 60,000 service - i am due my 72,000 mile service next by my car has only done 56,000. Am i going to have to fork out £800? Is there significant benefits to having it done by an Alfa dealer - i know the obvious answer is 'yes' buty at this price, have any other people been in the same situation?

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Re: Service cost for a 147

The only advantage you would have is the stamp in the handbook for a full alfa service history.

Have a search on here in the independent garages thread, you might find a good local specialist who'll go out of there way for you. (Independent garage Recommendations)

Normally at the 6th/72000 service its a recommended cam belt and variator change, when you had it done last time? It's normally 3 years or 36000 miles, which ever comes first form the last time round.

Alfaworkshops in Royston. £430 for a 72k cambelt change and service ..( +90 for variator)

40 min run for you from amersham M25 - A1 - A505.

you can get a loan car and the service is much better. Had my 60K service done there and it came back sounding real sweet. Definately going back for the 72K.

I live in CSP just down the road from the Amersham dealer you speak about found them nice but just way over priced.

Re: Service cost for a 147

Just to second that - Jamie and Alfa workshop are great. I first went there with my GTV and was very impressed with the knowledge and set-up.
Just took my 147 there last week for cambelt, variator and wishbones. The service was second to none - My girlfriend followed me there and her car broke down when we got there! (who says VW engines are reliable!) Jamie had a quick look and got it in a a garage around the corner (Royston motors I think - who were also very helpful) and then Jamie provided us with a 156 for the day.
I have said it a 1000 times on here but its hard to find someone you can trust - but Alfa workshop are one!
