Hi everybody I have an alfa 156 selespeed that has been worked over by autodelta,
Over the past 3 months the car has been of the road, this morning I have charged the battery and got the car started again, however the engine was making a tapping noise which I asume is due to lack of lubrication from it being stood. Also after running the car for an hour or so I removed the oil filler cap to find it had a white gunge on it. The head is fine as I did a sniff test so any other suggestions.
Finally the bod kit that I got from autodelta has started to come away on the side skirts does anybody no what is used to stick these to the car.
Is the car heating ok/overheating?? I'd drain the coolant and replace it, then do an oil change but run an engine flush through it, take it for a good,, long, LONG, drive and check it again........sounds like head gasket though....
white gunge is a sign of water in the oil, that can easily happen if the car does short journeys and never gets a good long run to heat up and dry out the oil. after 3 months off road in winter i'd be shocked if it wasnt full of white gunge.
