speaker wire problems on 156

Hi I have decide to upgrade my front door speakers on my 156 but i have no idea which is pos or neg on the wires as its in a block and not marked do's any one no which is which

do you have a DMM (digital multimeter) with 'continuity beep' function? if so, you can trace the wires back to behind the headunit, and is how you can do it (you will know which wire is POS/NEG behind the headunit because you refer to the schematic atop the headunit).

otherwise, it is not essential to know so long as you are consistent on both sides of the car.

that is, make a mental note of what you 'think' is POS in the L door (eg: L wire in plug). in the R door, ensure you make the L wire the POS too.

basically, you want the L and R speakers 'in phase' with each other. this is achieved regardless of whether they are exactly correct, so long as it's the same on both sides.
