Air Con / Climate Control MPG

Hi I have had my 159 for a few months now and the Fuel economy is rubbish, I think that the fact that I have the aircon/climate control on full auto all the time probably doesn't help.
Can anyone give me a tip as to what I should set it to to keep a decent level of comfort in the car witout costing me the earth.

Re: Air Con / Climate Control MPG

the air con will only increase your fuel consuption when it is cooling, not when it is switched on, so at this time of year i wouldnt expect it to be doing anything unless your cabin thermostat is set to very cold.

The compressor will still kick in because it functions as a de-humidifier as well. This is how it helps to de-mist the windscreen quickly.

Yeah, what Paul says....

The climate control shouldn't increase consumption by anymore than 5-10% so a miner alteration to cabin temp. will only alter consumption to a very slight degree.

No mate, I reckon your consumption problems lie elsewhere.

There's been quite a bit of disappointment noted with 159 owners on fuel consumption, mostly the diesel surprisingly enough. You don't say what it is you are driving?
