2.4 jtd overheating/too cold!
i've had afew prob with my 2000 2.4 jdt and this forum has helped, but like most i haven't posted the causes, so here is what i've had and repaired!
2/ car over cooling ie running temp 70ish and over heating plus 90-100 firstly when i bought the car it'd rarely go over 70 on the dial, and everything was ok.
come my first winter with it i'd replaced the radiator cos one of the fan speed resistances (bolted on to the radiator) had come lose n wore a hole in the radiator, so as you do i replaced the radiator (£150) but didn't have any anti freeze at the time.
typically in scotland we had a week ok of -10 and the water pump packed in, though from this forum i found the thermostat (which is sealed in the housing) was buggered from the start so that, and since it had to come off. the timing belt had to be changed too. total cost £277 reply if you need a breakdown of costs!
now car runs at arond 85 degrees and heater is always warm.
