156 wheel bearing advice wanted please!
Took my 156 to the stealers today for a diagnostic.
For over a year now i've had a hum from my NSF wheel, yet in 3 services they haven't flagged up a problem.
In the last service 6 weeks ago they still didn't mention any fault.
A mate of mine got a lift off me and said 'Better get you wheel bearing checked, sound like its on the way out'.
Got car checked out today and was told that because I have just had some 17" rims fitted its causing stress on the bearings and the diff and should be replaced by my old 16" ones immediately.
They also said that particular NSF rim has a flat spot, well i've looked at it in detail and can't see any visual signs of any flat spot, and that is also causing stress on the bearings.
Then they said............. but the you have got aftermarket wheels fitted!!!!
They just LOVE to blame anything on aftermarket parts don't they?
Are they just trying it on do you reckon?
Anyway, im taking it to the local independant specialists tomorrow for a second opinion!
But in the meantime does anyone have any thoughts?
