Alfa 147 Selespeed probelm

Hi, i have a Alfa 147 2.0 Selespeed on a 2001
Gear 1 and 2 flash then if i stay in second and let it flash for about 10 seconds it will go in R, i have to pull over and stop before it will go back into Neutral. gears 3 and 4 work fine with no flashing, 5 flashes straight away and comes up with selespeed error, a friend has told me its the selespeed sensor which needs replacing but i not sure as alot of things can go on these selespeed gearboxes. Any advice? thanks Sam

Could be the potentiomoters. There are two. One does 1st, 3rd and
5th the other does R, 2nd and 4th.
It could also be a bit of loose wiring.

Re: Alfa 147 Selespeed probelm

I think it would be the selector sensors, but as you say there are a number of things that could make the numbers flash. Best bet is to get it diagnosed and find out exactly what it is because the guessing game in this is no good. If you know someone with alfa diag they might be able to point you in the right direction.
