Re: 156 Exhaust Advice Needed
We had a CSC 'cat-back' system put on the Spider.
It sounds 'just right' with an added touch of growly rumble when idling and doesn't seem any louder than the original at speed, there is just a slightly deeper tone maybe.
Sonically, the difference from the original is slight but there if you care to listen.
I think I can detect a slight increase in performance, but my wife, whose car it is, thinks it's a touch less responsive. As I don't drive it that often, and the step from the 2.0JTS to the V6 always makes me grin anyway, my judgement may be clouded on the performance. I've not read of anyone else thinking the performance is affected negatively by a CSC system.
The pipes are specially treated mild steel to prevent corrosion. I can't vouch for longevity as we've only had ours 3 months.
We both think that the tail pipe looks better than the original.
One thing that is worth considering with stainless steel exhausts is that they tend to be a thinner steel than mild. Consequently, so I've read, that they can be more prone to cracks.
Good luck with the MOT
- BTW does anybody ever feel confident of passing!?
