I am pretty sure you will get rubbing with 225 width tyres. Most people consider 215 width as the widest that will fit. If you look at the back of the wheel there is not a lot of clearance between the tyre and the suspension upright even with standard tyres fitted. Unless you get spacers the 225's will rub. But then with the spacers they will rub on the outer arch. this is why the GTA which comes with 225 width tyres fitted has bigger arches.
I am sure you could make them fit by modifying the exixting arches though.
You will never be cool driving a Vauxhall.
