I'm not hot on the inner workings of cars, but am willing to learn. I've recently purchased my lovely new 98 156 2ltr t spark. The only issue I have with it is that it really doesn't like starting from cold.
On trying to start it ticks over but wont fire until about 4 attempts, after when it backfires at least once! Guarenteed(oh the neighbours love me!). To me it seems like its struggling to get fuel in and after the few attempts of starting it manages to get it through.
I've had it at an alfa specialist a few times, but have just been told that it needs stripped down and investigated as the pooter doesnt come up with any problems when hooked up to it, im reluctant to do this as labour costs are quite high and having only paid £500 for the car and having spent another £500 on further fixes for niggly things its not really worth spending much more on fixing it, but i like it sooo much.
It had another started problem when I got it which was fixed with a replacement crank shaft sensor, so thats not the prob.
Once its started its fine! And will start up again if switched off, obviously if left for a four or five hours in the cold it needs a few attempts to start again.
I have replaced the battery so its not that, the sparks have also been replaced. Has anybody here experienced similar sorts
of problems with there alfa per chance?
