After 2ys and 6months of a 147 Selespeed ownership I'm getting rid. For no other reason than I've always wanted a tin-top soft top. A Merc SLK is due on Friday. I've enjoyed the ownership apart from the constant nagging that something might go wrong and cost the earth to fix.
I bought the car at 19,000 miles and now it has 45,500 miles and in that time I've had the following done:
2 x new battery
Front brake caliper maintenance kits
Anti roll bar
Rear suspension arms
New ss rear box
Power Steering pump
3 x clutch adjustments
Belts (although you might class these as wear and tear)
Countless amounts of engine oil (ott for such low mileage)
Countless hours checking engine and sele oil
Re-calibtration x 2
Replace aux belt (second time after all belts done)
Hours at the Alfa Indie
I'm fed up with the cold morning kangarooing, occasional problems with gears not selecting or taking on a life of their own, constant worry over the actuator - partly I must say due to paranoia of some anti-sele owners who write on this site. I'm sure if a member car had a paint problem some bright spark would point to a actuator problem
Anyway guys, I expect some will reply with some sort of divvy remarks about the SLK, good luck to them as I shn't be taking any notice.
I fully understand the love you all have for Alfas, my love has just slowly erroded away....best wishes to you all.
