147 Diesels - Real-world diiference?
I'm seriously considering a 147 diesel. However, within the criteria (price, mileage, etc.) that I'm working to the chances of finding a 16-valve are very slim.
I've test-driven an 8-valve; I was more impressed with its performance than I expected (wanted?) to be, but...
In the real world of every-day driving, does a 140bhp 16-valve engine (150 bhp versions are beyond my budget) have noticeably better performance than an 8-valve? On the one hand I'd hate to spend the next five years or so driving around thinking that I'd settled for second best, on the other hand if there's no significant advantage I'd be better off with a newer/lower mileage 8-valve.
Any opinions, based on experience with both diesels?
(and please, no 'buy a Twin-Spark' comments - that's what I may end up doing!)
