Re: Smelly Clutch ?
Fair play to you sir, I admire your responce too, very well put, I guess a Veryon makes just about any thing look like a go cart.
I guess my initial reply was a little caustic as I don't go everywhere Flat out, but do use all of the power at times esp. passing other cars, hence the sporadic timing of posts on this thread.
I was loathe at first to change gear at 7k in my car, but common sense tells me not to change closer to the peak power, which means either avoiding max bhp and torque (in which case why is it threre?) or changing at 7k and keeping the engine in its power band....
Which I guess is the reason behind the thread.
I am not posting saying I have burnt out my clutch, but more that I don't want to burn it out.
One of the beauties of the V6 is how pleasant it is at below 4k, making it an easy car to drive sedately, with the grunt there when you need it. I would also add that in my honest opinion, although its no Veyron, even the lowly 2.5 has more power than you can sensibly and safely use on the public roads in Britain, and I frequently find myself backing off, not 'cos the car can't handle a bend, or because it doesn't have enough power, but because the pilot has too much to live for...and enjoys his clean licence......
So what rpm should I change at when overtaking, because its still not obvious to me? Thanks in advance
