Another perspective on this....
My last cars:
156 V6 (50k miles -best ever engine - I really miss it)
147 1.9jtd16v (35k miles - fast, efficient, dissapointing chassis, dull after V6)
GT Blackline Q2 picked up on Friday!!!!!!!
Already clearly the best car I have ever owned.
Why - because the combination of the Q2 diff AND the Q2 suspension transforms the car into the best handling front drive car I have ever driven.
It is the best car despite and not because of the jtd engine. Its a fine reliable engine and post remap should give very decent performance, but it certainly hasn't got the soul of that glorious V6.
If you live in the sticks as I do, with lots of twisty stuff and crests and dips, then buy the Q2 and don't worry about the engine
. The body control is simply amazing - no more bashing the chin on dips and none of the mushy roll and oscillation that the 147 showed. Drove to the office this morning at 3:00 to fix a technical issue and the grip and traction on wet slimy roads was devastatingly good.
