Dont you all just love these fuel debates
I have owned a 2.5 and 3.2 156. Yes anyone who feels the need to do traffic light grand prix in one of these will find the petrol is quicker.
However having taken both of these and the jtd round Castle Combe I can assure you that the jtd is not left in the dark (the track team all stated how impressed they were with the jtd). After this track day I purchased the GT jtd and not the 3.2 as planned. I have not looked back once with the absolute exception of the soundtrack! My short time with the 3.2 was great however point to point across B roads I'd be very suprised that it would be hardly any if at all quicker than the jtd GT. As for my old 2.5, there is no way that would be quicker on B roads
There will be no convincing some who may have had a drive out in a diesel and not realised that things happen below 5K and not above 5K as in the petrol. Its a different style of driving required, no worse or better. And I appreciate there will be no convicing some people which makes it an interesting world of variety as in all things!!
As for the 2.0, my GT destroys my mates in all aspects. As for a 1.6 being quicker round a circuit???????????????????????????? (maybe with stig in it and May in the jtd
I really enjoyed both my petrol alfas imeasurably, but the jtd is great, and it is short sighted to slate it without fair comparison and using the same driving style.
That said whatever your in, if your in an alfa its all good anyway
