We're trying the 2.0 petrol and the 1.9 diesel blackline. We've never had a diesel but everyone seems to rate this particular one. It's gonna have to be good to make us switch!!! The mpg is attractive though, especially after the RX-8. We love the rx-8 but after 4 years of 25mpg, it would be nice to have something a little less thirsty.
Just to reassure you, I had to sell my black 192 RX8 when I changed jobs, because it came with a company car, but it was nice to move to an Audi 2.0TDi which does 50mpg instead of 20mpg and I get 700 miles out the tank, not 250.
My lease is just about to expire on the Audi and I was given the option to opt out. By this point, Mazda still had not produced a 150BHP / 305Nmm engine for an RX8, so I've had a mid-life chrisis (quote from wife) and bought an Alfa GT Blackiline 1.9JTDm Q2. Awwwwwwwwwwwwesome car. ............ and the test for me was when my golf clubs slotted nicely in to the boot, much to the amusement of the sales guy.
If you are getting the Blackline and want economy and torque, the JTDm has to be the way to go. There are no optional extras apart from the Q2 diff which is but a measley 450 notes.
If you want the Q2, you will have to be quick as there are not many left for sale in the UK. If your garage has not got one, tell them to phone round the other Alfa dealerships to get one or risk losing the sale.
I got the Blaup. 10CD auto-changer + full tank of diesel + Supaguard inside and out + GAP protection thrown in for nothing after a bit of haggling. If you don't want these, you should be able to get a minimum £700 discount. If you can't, contact Chris Variava, Nottingham and tell them that you want the same deal as me!
Pick mine up on the 4th March so it's on an 08 plate. Can't wait.
As Nike say, "JUST DO IT".
