I've searched the forums on how to change Main beam bulb on my 147 TI 06.
firstly is mine a facelift version?

I've managed to remove the blown bulb and clip! (Not sure how I did it) now I can't get new one to fit!! In the forums I searched previously they all had diagrams but they won't load. Has
Anyone got them for me and could upload again please. Also do i need to remove anything so I can get proper access to it?

Many thanks in advance

You probably need a small mirror so that you can see what you are doing when you replace the bulb......they are fiddly but not particularly difficult.....the clip just unhooks from its location and hinges down (once you've disconnected the plug from the bulb, of course, and the bulb just pops out......so long as you have the correct bulb its just a question of getting it into the correct position, then hinging the clip back up and springing it back into place, and reconnecting the plug.

Then go and bathe the cuts on your fingers from all the sharp edges, and go and have a restorative drink....;)

06 147 TI should be a facelift - you can tell from the headlight shape. Facelift is a stretched teardrop shape, with the pointy bit toward the grille. See pic below.

Tip: look at the bulb from the front, through the glass, whilst you fiddle it into position by feel. That way you can immediately see if it's not seated correctly. From memory the tab on the bulb has to be at 12 o'clock position on both main H1 and dip H7 bulbs.

The dips are worse/harder to get at, especially the offside access is terrible. People sometimes take the bumper off, or wheelarch liner out. I found it OK once I'd de-mounted the header tank (3 screws), disconnecting the slim coolant return pipe across the top, and pushed the tank out of the way.

Thanks for your help (both if you) Mine is the offside?. I tried for another hour with no joy and In the end I bit the bullet and took it Halfords. The first lad tried for half hour and couldn't do it. He then called the manager over to try and he ended up losing the clip in the main headlight unit!!!!! I've now got a Halfords voucher for a mornings labour at one if there auto centres to see if they can find Clip and fit bulb. All this for a 3 pound bulb!

Watch this space....

Madness. O/s dip is really not that hard provided you move the header tank (which is 3mins and easy). If they didn't, they'd need to be well-greased capuchin monkeys.

EDIT: oh, it's the main beam bulb, that's easier access. But as rgwm said, a small mirror makes sense of how the H1 base fits in the hole. The cut-out in the collar and pegs mean it can only go in one way.

It's better if you don't remove the clip completely as you then have to reinsert the pivot ends back into tiny invisible holes. A mistake I only made once. Dropping it inside the bulb is pure Halfords. That'll now be bumper off and remove headlight, or judicious use of a magnetic pick-up tool through the bulb hole.

Thanks everyone. They're waiting for approval from head office! On the way back my exhaust went! Took it to a garage and the manifold fell into 6 pieces! They said to get a new one would take a month! So they are welding the bits together. Would that be ok? Does anyone know where I could get a new one from?

I'm having a month from hell!!

There are versions with four bolts on the lower flange and later versions with five bolts. I would generally convert to a five bolt version if either portion of the four boot type is cracked. If you did this you would need the manifold, downpipe with cats, the gaskets for manifold to head, manifold to downpipe and downpipe to second cat.

As Addo says there are two types - so you need to check which yours is. With all due respect to Autolusso that price seems somewhat steep....I know they've welded it, but.......

I've certainly got some 4 bolt manifolds - not sure if I have a 5-bolt one.
