Hi everyone, I've just been repairing the under tray on my car again and noticed a new oil leak coming from somewhere around the drivers side front wheel. It's not the oil cooler (this time) that's looking clean, and it's not the sump. So I had a look from above and there appears to be a soft pipe that goes nowhere! it's been squashed/crimped like something hot has squashed it then it came apart, it's a very slow leak. I was wondering if anyone could tell me from the pictures what the pipe is please? (I've highlighted the pipe in question). Thanks!
(I could be looking at the wrong thing, but a pipe going nowhere seems really odd).

I can't really make out the picture, but it looks like #2 is down the back of the block, behind the HP fuel pump in the head steady area near the bulkhead. That is where the vacuum oil separator unit is located, that extracts oil from engine breather fumes, and drains it into the sump via a hose from the bottom of the separator. The breather pipe connector on the top of the separator is a push-collet fit brass tube and tends to come adrift. Maybe that is what has happened. However there is also at least one vacuum hose connected. I can't relate to the photo to know whether the pipe that leads nowhere is the one that feeds the separator. I'll have a look at my car in daylight tomorrow. However I don't know how that would translate to oil near the driver's side front wheel. Problems with the separator or its hose connections would allow oil to run down the back of the block.

First pic shows the vacuum oil separator on the back of the block (looking forward), second pic is a GV. It's missing the head steady and cambelt is off as I'm in the middle of replacing noisy hydraulic lifters, one has never been right since I fixed the swirl flap disaster back in January.

Red-dots are the hoses to the separator, but there's one off the bottom that drains oil to the sump. However these are all ~25mm diameter, and the one in your pic looks smaller, 12-15mm or so. I have no idea what that is, and my car doesn't appear to have any similar in that area. Mine's a 147 Sport Q2 too, so something is odd. Where does the other end connect to?

Thanks for that, I'll have a closer look with a better camera for the job over the weekend. The car is working ok, it's just a little bizarre at the moment as to what the pipe is doing and also where the oil is coming from, it's not much oil fortunately.
