GT Rear Defrost suddenly stopped

Hi all, First time for quite some time needing to de-fog the rear window of my GT and hey what do you know it doesn't work. I've seen a few threads but nothing mentions where the connectors are or how to check.

Have checked the fuse (good), the switch lights up and I hear the expected click when depressed. Next went to look at the connections on the back window. Could not see them so pulled the hatch up. From what I could see looks like I'd need to unscrew the fixings for the plastic the lines the window. I undid the ones for the bottom half. At this point it does not pull away easily so I left it as I didn't want to end up breaking something.

Anyone with any experience taking this apart? More importantly is this where the connector is for the de-fog (bottom left/right sides)? Any help greatly appreciated! Thanks.

I have similar with 156. I can here the relay click, fuse is good and rear wires look good. I've narrowed it down to a mess of wires up from the accelerator pedal. I had the demister repair itself momentarily after having a good poke around up there. But nothing was obviously worn. Of course the gt wiring is different but I'd be interested in how you approach finding the exact location of the fault. Mine maybe the result of my slap dash welding efforts and clumsy trim removal!

I appreciate your frustration - had this situation on my last 156. Based on the assumption there was a break in a wire/connection somewhere I did some continuity testing. Tested the power wire to the back window through the window element to earth and all was fine gradually worked up to the front of the car up to the fuse box. Don't know what I moved, but suddenly worked, however, only for a couple of weeks before it stopped again. Sorry to say I never got to the bottom of it before it got written off when it got driven into.

To help find any break in the wire I used a needle, pushed into the side of the wire to use as a multi-meter probe to check voltage at regular intervals. On the 156 the main power wire runs down the driver's side of the car.
