Help Immobiliser / Fuel cut-off switch

Evenin' all,
I think I may have tripped the fuel cut-off switch today by shoving a folder under the passenger seat, this in turn from my reading of other forums may have caused the immobiliser to jam, i.e. the CODE light doesn't go out.

It does go out sometimes and the car will start. The spare key seems to be a little more relaible. I've tried from advice from my mechanic disconnecting and reconnecting the battery but the CODE light still stays on intermittently. I've been advised to have the aerial on the sterring column replaced.

My questions are:
1. Does the aerial need to be replaced?

2. Is the fuel cut-off switch under the paseenger seat a possible culprit?

Any comments greatly appreciated.
