Quickie - Braided brake lines

Take 2 of my brake overhaul is going on today, just wanted to check out one thing.

My new braided lines are plain braided hose, non of the rubber spacers like the originals - Front Brake Hose - Autolusso New Alfa Romeo Parts

Do these need transferring from the original hoses over to the new braided lines, or can the new line just be routed in the same direction without worrying about it?

Cheers all!

The disc spacers are usually clipped on, I always transfer them. If the old hoses also had a thick runner sleeve over a section, I slice it longitudinally and re-use with the help of superglue and a couple of tiny cable ties. Similarly I re-use the grommets that are held in brackets around the strut legs.

It probably seems overkill but I discovered once that what seemed a small mis-routing of a front hose, had it chafing badly on the wheel where not readily visible.

Least of my problems so far... Nut on the hard line is seized to the pipe and not turning at all.. Broke lose of the hose easily, but doesn't rotate on the hard line without starting to twist it

Got a proper flared line spanner for it and all!

Gonna bathe it in penetrating oil and have a cuppa whilst I think about it....

In other news, the paint job on the calipers and carriers looks lovely!

Got the *******!

Penetrating oil and some persistent back and forth wiggling broke it loose

New braided line is on, spacers and grommet transferred over. Time to bleed this one through, then onto the next side

Wel I'm done... Took A LOT longer than I expected.. Only managed the fronts too...

It'll no surprise to you all that the passengers side was stuck solid too, so that took some dedicated wiggling to break free...

New discs, Performance Friction pads, braided lines, and Castrol React Performance fluid bled through to the fronts... Also tarted up the calipers/carriers with some nice black paint, and gave the slide pins a thorough cleaning and grease up with silicone paste...

Bled through OK (used a 1 man pressure bleeder kit), had a rock solid pedal whilst on stands with the engine off... Somewhat softened once the engine starts though, but is effective enough for now... Comes up hard again with a few pumps, so I'll have another go at bleeding tomorrow using the old fashioned 2 person method

Got the rears to do as well now!
