Inner CV Joint "Tin Hat"

I'm referring to the endmost pressed metal part of the inner CV joint. Is it heavily swaged onto the CV joint's main body or can it be tapped off? Scheming a little, want to use a leftover non stretch (OEM) inner boot on an otherwise OK joint. Driveshaft is already out.

I've searched, also trawled Google images, nothing is crystal clear yet.

Thanks, Adam.

How else would you expect to remove the circlip that holds the inner joint on the shaft? - yes, it just taps off.

Thank you. I'll proceed as planned.

There are some CVs (tripod joints actually) out and around with heavy swaging of boot collars, this being impossible to replicate using ordinary workshop tools once you get them apart. Once bitten, twice shy!
