I had a V6 petrol GT do a similar thing to me on a test drive. It also had been sitting in a forecort for months and the battery was stuffed. Had to be started from a jump pack. I'd be pretty sure a new battery would sort the problems.
Nice and rare colour combo though. Might be worth getting the dealer to replace the battery and if it goes well, offer them 12500.
BTW, low battery voltage will cause a system reset, which stops the fuel pump for a moment, which will kill a JTD as it relies on the fuel pump to feed the high pressure pump for direct injection.
