Unhappy 156 JTS Last Rites

Hi

Just before my 52 plate goes to the big scrapyard in the sky I would like to ask if anyone could help with 2 major problems it has:

1. When the engine is hot it cuts out at low revs and runs very rough. I've had several people (including an Alfa specialist) look at this and nobody can find the problem.

2. After getting some welding to the chassis to pass it's MOT none of the instruments, the electric windows or the central locking work.

Thanks

The windows etc not working is probably just a fuse or 2.

The rough running could be several things is the check engine light on (should be) and, even if not, have you checked for error codes?

The two faults MAY be connected in issue by just with blown fuses.

There IS one other thing that COULD cause both. Depending on what items had to be removed to do the welding, make sure all the major earthing straps and cables are connected and tight.

Thanks for your advice guys.

Been looking at repacements but nothing really floats my boat.

Went today to see an 04 plate face lift model in black. Looked stunning in the pictures but turned out to be really shabby in the flesh, and made me realise that my own is actually really tidy.

I'm going to make one last concerted effort to get it fixed.

Common thread for 156s now. Keep it if you can as it is definitely much less of a common sight these days. I'm contemplating waving and flashing my lights each time i see another.

I just on a visit to the "156" page, I sold mine a couple of years ago. I agree with BB, many the problems faced by 156 drivers is down to poor earths and bad connections. On all of my 156's I spent some time cleaning all the earth connections I could find and checking all the connectors as possible, especially those on the injectors. You will be amazed at the difference it makes. Good Luck.
I miss my 156,,,,sigh.
