156 Headlight and Aircon problems

Hi all,
I have stumbled back into Alfa ownership with a 2005 156 2.0JTS Lusso that was too cheap to turn down.
Most of the mechanical issues have been sorted for the MOT,but I have a couple of issues remaining.
When I turn the sidelights on the dipped beam lights also illuminate. All other lights work normally, but I can't get just the sidelights on their own.
Secondly the air con is only blowing cold in the passenger side, with the air on the drivers sideheating up as the engine warms up.
Any ideas would be greatfully received as I'd love to get this car back in use and enjoy her.
Regards, Jamie.

Headlight issue sounds like a column switch problem....although to be honest I wouldn't worry too much as I almost never use the sidelights on their own, except sometimes when parked.......

Air con issue may be the control panel as the facelift cars have individual temp controls - maybe the driver's side one has failed. I may have a unit if you wanted to try to substitute it.

HI,
Thanks for your reply. I have replaced the column stalks today and the sidelight problem persists. Unfortunately I have to worry about it as it is one of the issues the car failed it's MOT on.
Thank you also for the offer of the Aircon control panel, but I got one of those in a deal with the light stalk.
I'm at a loss with the headlights now, and almost starting to regret taking on the car.
