147 clutch change

Hello there

I bought my 147 just under three month ago now,and the clutch is whistling when pulling away in first, so i assume its the clutch bearing but upon taking it to a garage they informed me the bite point was low too and I needed a new clutch!

Right i thought i'll head down to the garage i bought it from and they can do it under warranty, But there trying to tell me they need my car for two whole days to do the clutch, surely this cant be right, in my experience of working in a garage (school work experience) we replaced an engine in a golf GTI in a day and a half!!!

Anyone got any idea how long of a job replacing the clutch is?

Many thanks!

And appologies if this has already been asked but i searched for an hour before resulting to posting a new thread!!

Re: 147 clutch change

My clutch was replaced in 6 hours in Alfa service. They forgot to bleed it and I had to bring the car back after 10 minutes of driving, but basicaly it should be a less-than-a-day job.

Re: 147 clutch change

DIY on trolley jacks & axle stands you're looking at 2 days unless you drink lots of coffee and stay off the wackybacky.

at a garage it depends more on how busy they are and how scary you look.

Lol i looked scary and it was in for a day and a half, thing the lazy gits were taking the mick a bit to be honest! but there you go!

They even left the old clutch in the passenger footwell for me to dispose of myself!!

Thank god for the skips at my work which arent under the CCTV cameras lol
