Hi all, just before I go and list it on eBay, I wanted to offer my 2.5 to the forum -- I've not had it long, but just wanted to have one again after loving my 2.5 I had 7 or so years ago. Itch scratched and now will be getting something else.. a 4200 with a bit of luck !

Headlines:

107k
Cosmo Blu with tan leather (I think this has been swapped in by a previous owner)
12 month MOT
Stunning painted and detailed engine bay
Updated white dials (from a GT?) and carbon interior
Cambelt done 08/2014
Has KONI suspension
17 inch GT multi spoke alloys
Recent wishbones, suspension is excellent, no noises
New floorpan in 2014 from Mangolotsi and undersealed
Brand new CV's inner & outer
Brand new battery
Stainless exhaust
Brand new cat
Brand new gearnob(!)
Powerflexed engine steady
Plenty of service history inc. regular cambelts, new pulleys and many gaskets it seems : )
Oil and filters serviced 08/15
Bodywork in good condition
Recent badges
Upgraded speakers and HU at some point
Clutch and gearbox good
I just replaced some dodgy exhaust rubbers with OEM

Something to consider -- front tyres have good tread but inner edge wearing, will need replacement soon. Rears fine. I'd put a wizard exhaust on it if it were me

This car has certainly been looked after and not rotting away like most other examples.

Thanks Dan, but I'm not being greedy, I just want to sell it for what I paid for it and move on and let someone else enjoy it. I'd love another wizarded Alfa.. one day. I think maybe a 3.0 gtv was my favourite : ) Although maybe this 2.5 would be the best candidate.. If it doesn't sell easily.. might be an option

Lovely car. If I hadn't spent so much money on my 1.8TS 156 i'd consider selling her and buying this.

Makes me wonder what my 156 is worth on the market now :(

Oh, right, interesting, he did mention he'd got two from you. I hope you didn't let them go too cheap. So you only drove it home, swapped the interior and then didn't drive it again? : ) The seats are seriously comfortable. It's a nice motor. The guy you bought it off seems to have spent a lot of money on it.

yeah I literally drove it home, swapped the interior and sold it about 3-4 weeks later having not driven it again due to the MOT expiring! My intentions at the time were to make one good car out of the two but to get one car to how I wanted it would have meant investing too much money into it and faffing around removing differentials etc. So I sold a 75k miles cf2 v6 with a q2 and the blue 107k v6 together for the same price you are asking for just the one car!

So Ben obviously got a bargain due to me falling out of love with my own project and not being bothered to sell them separately...

It was the previous owner to the guy I bought the cosmos blue v6 from that spent all of the money on it with the new floors, suspension and stainless exhaust, the guy before me serviced it, detailed the engine and fitted the cam belt.

Wow.. he really got a cracking deal! Did you not try very hard to sell them ? I knew he was making money on it, but it was still a good price for a nice motor.. needed a few bits doing for MOT mind. CVs inner and outer and a leak on the exhaust. Oh and new CAT section.

It looks to be a superb example but as a long term investment, that mileage is way too high. If it was 40,000 miles and £3000.00 it would be tempting.

This was my car up until around October 2015.

It would have needed the CAT as I had fitted a CAT delete pipe, I included the CAT along with a shed load of spares to the guy I sold it to. Think I sold for £1050.

I had the cambelts, tensioners and water pump done at Allitallia using genuine Alfa parts, in addition I had the genuine Alfa rear floor section welded in, full front suspension refresh using quality arms, replaced all the gear shift mounts and bushes, had the cam covers painted, restored the intake pipes, the list goes on!. CV's were in good condition (i.e. not torn or clicking) when I sold it. I serviced it regularly and spent a small fortune on it keeping the car in good order, I LOVED it. It'll never win any shows but if you want a 156 that's had all the major jobs done, looks really good and sounds EPIC! this is the one.

Wish I could have shipped it with me to Australia! Good luck with the sale.

Gez, it sounds like you really took good care of her, and it's making me feel guilty wanting to sell it.. I may just keep hold of it. Have you managed to get an Alfa over there ? I hope you don't mind but I added some of your info to the ad. : ) Hey, life could be worse.. you are in Oz after all ! It seems the CAT and the spares got lost somewhere in transition

Haha, don't feel guilty, it's your car mate.

Yeah I did spend some serious cash on it as well as spanner time, I spent two solid days cutting back, polishing and sealing the paint when I first got it. I'd just got it to the point were all major jobs had been done when we decided to move to Hobart (Wife's home town). I did look at shipping it but the cost was mental when you factored in import taxes.

I picked up an Alfasud about 5 months ago, but have since moved it on, I don't seem to have any spare time!!

Good luck with the sale mate.

Hey, so you're in Tassie as well then? You're right, slim pickings, however the main issue I've found is that the vast majority of 156/147's have bloody auto gearboxes or worse Selespeed! What's the point of having an Alfa with an auto!!! Haha. I had my eye on a 156 V6 for sale in Hobart, but it needed an engine rebuild and was auto, oh and they still wanted 2k for it!.

There's a 147 GTA on Risdon Road in Hobart, it's not for sale, but I keep wondering about sticking a note on the windscreen.

I spend some time in the Launceston area, enough that it would be handy to have a car of my own there. Figured if I took an Alfa and got bored, there'd be a buyer.

Scottsdale back to town after dusk, is roadkill central!

I have seen the 156 advertised, too.

She went last night in the end - unfortunately got the 335i and 525d now. Nice cars, but nowhere near as fun as the GTA or GTV. Will hope to get another one one day, but don't think it'll be for a while now. Hopefully chop the 335i for something maserati next year ? Do you do wizards for them? : )

I'd love a 4200 or gransport but we need 4 doors.. so, that really limits us. Might have to wait until the baby is big enough to crawl into a 2 seater! I bet a Wiz on one of those would be epic. I'll keep you posted, maybe you can use me as a test car if you're intersted.. although won't be a for a while I guess.
