156 leather colour choice

I want to replace my existing cloth interior with leather, but am having second thoughts on colour choice. The car is dark red/maroon, as below.

Black is obviously a simple choice, but I find it a bit dull. Black with red stitching and logos would be good, but don't think that is an option. I very much like the red leather, but am having second thoughts about whether different red inside and out is wise. So if not red, what's the best bet? The very light grey? I'm obviously not going to get a concensus on here, but would appreciate people's thoughts . Currently I've had a view from the Mrs, but obviously I don't really want to have to listen to her opinion .

Also, is there anything to look out for with pre and post facelift, airbag variations etc when trying to source it? I know there's differences, but not sure if they make things a bit tricky but can be overcome, or if there's stuff you can't work round (other than saloon/sportwagon rear seats being completely different, which I'm aware of).

Tan is the best colour with that red but black would be great too.

Agree that Tan is the way to go. If you can find a momo sport pack interior then go for it!

Yep, for a red car, tan leather is probably the best option.

I love red leather, but in a red car would be too much.

I agree with the tan leather option for a red 156. My father in law has that colour combination and it looks great.

I hate tan but i have had cars with tan leather and would again but i would never bvuy tan leather to fit in a car.

What i have done is got the Red Interior Door Cards to go with the black recaro's with red stitching . I do like red leather but too much red is over whelming .

But remember its what you like not everyone else do what you wont regret maybe get some members to post some pics of their interior see how it goes

Here is mine uncleaned and headrest stickers not to

Indeed - a big surprise! Tan wasn't really the option that occurred to me, would be good if someone could post a pic of that combination. I think I can at least definitely rule out the red, I had it before on a dark grey spider which looked awesome so I'm probably thinking back to that without considering the external colour .

This looks really good. Have you got a pic with the headrests done as well? I didn't actually know black leather with red stitching existed as an option but really like that combination, plus being recaros that looks good in its own right. I suspect sourcing a decent set may be a challenge though...

The facelift-interior onwards cars got these as an option - they are the same frames, electric recline, manual lumbar support, pull-out thigh support as that spare set of cloth Recaros you have, just these are leather covered and stitched red. This is the ultimate 156 leather interior if you ask me, its what I have in my 10v and I prefer it to the seats in my 156 GTA.

Although that being said, if you were going for the standard Momo interior then I would go for red for sure, it looks great in a red car. Black leather door-cards might go well with it if you were worried about too much red.

Here are some examples of mine but you have to look round the blue as it has still got to have its respray, also its a mess as i had flung all my bits and bobs inside but ive done 1 pic showing black door cards and 1 showing red and an example of the gaiters

That is definitely winning. The red bits make such a difference compared to plain black. What chance of finding a set of these for a sportwagon though, other than Ebay where do I look?

I must confess that despite all the positive votes I'm not sure the tan is to my taste with the dark red external colour, there's just something about it which I'm not convinced by. Maybe black door cards and b pillar trim would improve it. What do people think about the grey? I think it definitely looks classy/refined, but then you risk drifting into a bit boring as per the plain black.

They are the only seats that should be in a 156. They are beautiful, i've had 3 and put them in them all.
