its a common problem on every fiat group car from the 90s. a dealer can diagnose it, and even switch the light off, but the dealers dont seem to be able to actually fix the problem (even if you pay them several hundred pounds). 99% of the time the light comes back on within a couple of days, and then the dealer wants another £65 just to look at it, and as usual they warn you that there is no guarantee they can fix it this time, or the next time either.
i usually switch the light of myself by removing the bulb/LED or cutting the wire (depending on the car). yes that means the airbag wont work, but it wouldnt work either way so there is no real loss. on a 156 you cant cut the wire, you need to remove the LED.
