156 Interior Lights Staying On

Yesterday the interior lights in my 156 refused to go off when the doors are shut. Th battery is fine and the lights are 'timing out' and going off after being on for a good while but come on again as soon as the car is unlocked. I know the switches are in the door locks but is it right to assume that the same switch reports if the doors are open? If so then as I'm not getting any notification that any doors are open on the MFD. This happened a few months ago and disconnection the battery for a while seemed to 'reset' it and its been fine up until now.

Could it be a fault with the body control module, or whatever Alfa Romeo call it!

No CANBUS on the 156 thankfully so your fault shouldn't be too complicated. There is a delay and then they dim and there is an excessive amount of switch combinations. Check themanual first.
