Slight damp in passenger footwell...

Hi All,

Just got back off holiday and the 147 has give me another little problem to sort...

Lifted up the mat in the passenger foot well and there is a slight hint of moisture, a few times my wife said she could feel ice cold water coming out of the foot blower (Air con is always on) but I also thought of the pollen filter maybe? how pron are they to leak?

Anyhow, any ideas or thoughts would be great as it's getting close to MOT time and the worries are starting to set in

Many thanks
Andy

Just a quick update on this - the moisture seems to be slightly tacky so could it be the heater matrix? last one I changed was on a Mk1 Golf GTi and that was a pain so can imagine it would be a tad harder on a 147!?

Thanks for the pointer - Didn't even consider rust but the MOT will give me a true picture of where I am at if that's the case

Must admit all I can smell is leather but it is strange how it's just the passenger footwell that's causing me concern!

isn't it simply condensation from the aircon ? The drain sometimes gets clogged up, causing it to overflow....

other option is clogged drain below paravan, due to earth, leaves etc.

This is what I was hoping/thinking it would be..... Where would I find the drain for the air con? and the other one you mentioned?

Many thanks
Andy

For the paravan, you need to remove the black plastic cover, beneath the front window (parts 1 & 2 in drawing)... Fairly easy to do. There's drainage holes left/right, and in the centre in the space below

aircon is a bit of a hasle, think it's located on the bulkhead...

Could be rust but the rear floor fails first on the near side. Very easy to check by looking underneath.

Is "paravan" a word?

Noun:
a brittle piece of car trim that is difficult to remove and almost impossible to refit without breaking:

Context:
"oh dear the paravan has broken and I can't refit it"
or
"why is this paravan made from the same material as flower pots"
or
"this paravan is doing my feckin head in"
