Has anyone had an outer CV boot replaced on their 156? Just after some advice r.e. replacement, and to see what other people have paid.
A loud knock started last night, occurring under deceleration. The higher the speed, the faster the knock. Another clue is the fact that there is grease around the inside of the alloy, yeuch!
My favourite Midlands-based Alfa specialist quotes £80 (1 Ĺ hour labour + parts). If the CV is burgered, itíll be £70 replacement for that also. Anyone have anything to compare it with? Sounds reasonable to me.
How it happened:
I recently fitted some shiny new Eibach Sportline lowering springs, which Iím very happy with. When dismantling the suspension, one bolt and nut was so seized I took it to Kwik-Fit, as their tools are considerably bigger than mineÖI donít even like Kwik-Fit!
Although I watched them the whole time, they must have touched the CV boot with the torch, so now itís split. Great job guys. Cash in hand, very little comeback etc etc.
