removing window switches

Hello,

Is it possible to remove the window switch assembly on the drivers door without removing the door panel?
I cannot seem to find conclusive answers

Thanks !

This is what i'm talking about

Yes - there is a cross-head screw semi-hidden in the door panel below the switch. Remove that then gently prise up the whole switch.

You can see in this picture of a switch where the screw passes through.

The grey area on the tab? Thanks ! I saw the screw on the doorcard, didn't think it would reach.

The assembly seems very solid in the doorcard, ill try levering with a plastic..spoon or something

Yes the grey area is where the screw goes through. It is a long screw though so does reach.
It should just lever up with a bit of gentle persuasion after that.

Yes, remove the screw then the switches pop out as a single unit. If you force it out with the screw in the assembly breaks and small bits fly through the air never to be found again. Don't ask how I know that.

Its held in (once the screw is removed) by four spring clips (2 each side -the shiny bits in the pic linked above) - which can be a pain and jam under the doorcard. Try pushing something thin (a credit card, maybe) against the side of the switch to compress one side.

A flat putty knife or paint scraper works a treat when getting out window switches or easing off bits of plastic trim.

You can buy a set of hard plastic trim removal tools for a tenner. Work well,I use them all the time and no longer end up with damaged trim and squashed foam beneath the plastic.
