Re: 147 JTD - P0236 - Motor Failure Warning
I'd watch out on that one.
The same symptoms happened to my 147 JTD in the same circumatnces - motorway, going to overtake and beeeep beeeeep. It was a woolly error code that didn't point to a specific sensor, the codes I got either said Turbo boost or Boost sensor at 5V ... pointing to a dodgy boost sensor (or so the garage thought).
I had the boost sensor changed and it was fine for a couple of weeks until the shutdown came back. Then the dealer thought it could be the EGR valve. Same story, 2 weeks of being ok before the error kicks off again ... then they scrcthed their heads a bit and thought it could be the throttle body, same story again ... more head scratching ... stciking turbo vanes? Had the turbo reconned and the problem got worse ...
Sick the dealers going round and round in circles I took it to a local indie who diagnosed it from the live data as the turbo pressure coming up too quick, causing a pressure spike and tripping the boost sensor out. Solution: remap. Had the map fiddled with and the turbo comes in a lot more gentle and has been fine for a good few months now, ultimately a lot more power and better economy too! Bingo!
Fingers crossed it's fixed now with a remap. Good luck there Roland, hope yours is the boost sensor and yours is ok now.
